Penistone Theatre Group

Entertaining the community since 1952

If you would like to become involved in any of our group's activities please don't be shy - make contact.

It might not seem obvious but there are roles that everyone can play. We don't just mean on stage but behind as well. We are always looking for people to help behind the scenes, sewing costumes, building sets and particularly with the many administrative tasks. If you have the skills in marketing, building websites, writing letters, looking after money, keeping records etc, there is a role for you so contact the secretary and join the crew.

'We are a voluntary organisation set up by the community for the community. Penistone Theatre Group has been established over 50 years and continues to run strongly but only through the help and assistance of you, the public!

We'd just like to put it out there some of the many roles that are undertaken within the group:

  • Wardrobe/Costume
  • Set Building and design/Painting/Props
  • Performing
  • Hair and Makeup
  • Backstage inc Stage Managing
  • Electronics - Assisting the lighting and sound team
  • Sound Effects
  • Writing
  • Publicity
  • Registered Chaperones for Chorus **it is free to register with Barnsley Council and the group can help with forms and paperwork if needed**

Many other areas need assistance but the ones above are the main areas we look at as it takes the most time.

Most of us work be it full or part time and any time you may be able to spare is valuable and we are very thankful that you the general public choose to spend it with us! We encourage all ages and abilities to join us as there's always something for everyone.
If your interested in any of the above roles no matter how small or would just like to help out in any way you can, feel free to drop us a line through the messaging button on here and someone will come back to you as soon as

**For insurance purposes all backstage hands and some set building work the individual must be at least 16 years of age to undertake these roles. Under this age the individual is classed as a minor so cannot assist with backstage work due to the equipment been used. This is governed by the Insurance policy and by law so we cannot bypass this as its a Health and Safety requirement.'**

Thursday 18th - Saturday 20th May 2017 - 7.30pm

In Michael Cooney's riotous fast paced farce, Eric Swan (aided by is Uncle George and unbeknown to his wife, Linda) has pocketed thousands of pounds through fraudulent DSS claims. When Erics lodger Norman opes the front door to a DSS Inspector, deceptive mayhem follows, as do an undertaker, bereavement counseller, psychiatrist, Norman's Fiancee, a corpse, the ominous Ms Cowper and a rebellious washing machine!

A frantic Linda meanwhile consults a doctor on discovering her husbands bra, corset & stockings (all part of Eric's swindling activities)!

If you would like to become involved in any of our group's activities please don't be shy - make contact.

We always welcome new members - Why not join us for our next show?

The Trustees of The Penistone Theatre Group would like to say a big thank you to everyone for their help and support this year. A special thank you to all our sponsors and our hardworking cast and crew who make it all possible.

We are planning more productions for 2017 and would welcome all interested people to come and get involved whether it be on the stage or behind the scenes.
